Field of view (FOV) setup

To help improve facial recognition performance, follow these positioning guidelines:

  • Installation height: Install the clock so the top screw is 54 inches from the floor and the bottom screw is 48 inches from the floor.

  • User positioning: The user should present their face within the strike zone, which is 20 to 30 inches from the clock.

  • Height range: The sensors fit users between 4'8" and 6'0" standing straight. Users between 6'0" and 6'6" should bend at the knees to align with the camera angle.


Wall-mounted installation

  1. Plan the location: Select a location near an AC outlet, unless the device will use Power-over-Ethernet Plus (PoE+). Confirm the location has access to the required network connection, such as Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or 4G LTE.

  2. Confirm outdoor placement, if applicable: The device is IP66 rated for dust and water resistance, but it is not rated for submersion. When installing outdoors, use a shaded or covered location when possible to reduce direct sunlight and extend display life.

  3. Mark holes: Tape the mounting template to the wall. The recommended baseline height is approximately 51 inches above the floor. Adjust the height as needed for the average height of the users.

  4. Prepare the wall: Drill 1/4 inch holes and insert plastic anchors until they are flush with the wall surface.

  5. Secure the plate: Align the mounting plate and fasten it with 6 screws to secure it to the wall.

  6. Install the SIM card, if applicable: Power off the device completely. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws on the back of the clock and lift the back cover. Disconnect the battery connector before removing or lifting the battery. Slide the SIM latch to the right to open it, insert the activated SIM card, and lock the latch back to the left.

  7. Replace the cover, if removed: Reconnect the battery connector, replace the cover, and tighten the screws evenly to help maintain the device seal.

  8. Route and secure cables: Route the multi-functional cable and network cable as needed. Use strain relief where applicable to prevent the cable from being pulled out or damaging the connector.

  9. Connect power: Use the AC power adapter (12 V DC output) or PoE+ to power the device. Do not connect both power sources at the same time. Press and hold the device’s power button for three seconds to turn it on. The device does not turn on automatically. The device must be turned on to charge; charging continues during sleep mode.

  10. Mount the device: Align the back of the device with the mounted plate and slide downward until it clicks into place.

  11. Lock the device: Secure the device to the mounting plate using the supplied screw at the bottom center, as shown below.

Warning: Do not connect the AC power adapter and PoE+ simultaneously. Connecting both power sources at the same time may damage the device.

Note: For 4G LTE setup, the customer must provide an activated SIM card. Confirm carrier activation and cellular coverage at the installation location before deployment.

  1. Inspect the rubber boot: Confirm the boot is correctly oriented and free of obstructions. Verify that all cutouts for the power port, network port, side buttons, speaker, and camera are clear.

  2. Insert the device into the boot: Hold the device with the screen facing forward. Align the bottom edge of the device with the lower opening of the rubber boot, then gently slide the device into the boot from the top. Apply even pressure on both sides to avoid twisting.

  3. Adjust for fit and alignment: Press along all edges to ensure the device is fully seated inside the boot. Confirm that the camera, speaker, ports, and side buttons align correctly with the corresponding openings.

  4. Connect power and charge the battery:

    1. Connect the USB-C connector of the multi-functional cable to the device’s USB-C port.

    2. Connect the AC power adapter (12 V DC output) to the multi-functional cable’s power input.

    3. Plug the AC power adapter into an AC outlet.

    4. Press and hold the device’s power button for three seconds to turn on the device.

    Note: The device must be turned on to charge. Charging continues during sleep mode.

  5. Place the device in the intended portable location: Position the device on a stable, level surface or carry it to the temporary job site as needed. Avoid placing the unit on hot metal surfaces or in direct sunlight for extended periods.

Troubleshooting

The device does not turn on

Battery is fully drained, AC power adapter is not connected, or the power button was not held long enough.

Connect the AC power adapter and press and hold the power button for three seconds. Confirm that the adapter is plugged into a known working AC outlet. If using PoE+, confirm that the switch supports PoE+ and that the Cat6 Ethernet cable and PoE+ port work. If the device still does not turn on, contact Technical Support.

Power LED is on, but the screen is blank

The device is in sleep mode, or there is an incorrect voltage, display issue, or power issue.

To wake the device from sleep mode, present a face or palm to the camera, place a finger on the fingerprint sensor, or touch the screen. If the screen remains blank, verify the power source and confirm that the correct AC power adapter or PoE+ connection is being used.

No network connection

Incorrect Wi-Fi credentials, inactive SIM card, poor cellular signal, or disconnected Ethernet cable.

Check the Network LED, verify Wi-Fi credentials, confirm SIM activation, or inspect the Ethernet connection.

Face recognition fails

Lighting changes, dirty camera lens, glasses, mask, or outdated enrollment.

Move the device to even lighting, clean the camera lens with a microfiber cloth, and re-enroll the user if needed.

RFID card does not read

The card frequency is not supported.

Confirm that the card or fob uses a supported frequency: 125 kHz or 13.56 MHz, including MIFARE and DESFire cards.

Touchscreen is unresponsive

Gloves, a wet screen, or debris on the screen.

Remove gloves or use touchscreen-compatible gloves. Dry and clean the screen with a soft cloth.

Device becomes hot in direct sunlight

Extended exposure to direct sunlight.

Move the device to a shaded location or install it under an overhang when possible.
