As of November 1, 2026, affected locations in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, the Northwest Territories, and northwestern Ontario no longer observe seasonal time changes. WorkEasy has added the new Canadian time-zone options. However, your existing settings will not update automatically.
Action required: If your company operates in an affected location, manually update the applicable time-zone settings, including your time clocks. Otherwise, times may continue to display one hour behind the correct local time. Follow the steps below to update your configuration.
Before you begin
Choose the time zone for each area:
Location | Select in WorkEasy |
|---|---|
British Columbia (affected areas) | (UTC-07:00) Pacific Time (British Columbia) |
Alberta | (UTC-06:00) Mountain Time (Alberta) |
Northwest Territories (affected areas) | (UTC-06:00) Mountain Time (Alberta) |
Manitoba | (UTC-05:00) Manitoba |
Northwestern Ontario (affected areas) | (UTC-05:00) Manitoba |
Northeast British Columbia, including Dawson Creek and Fort Nelson, was already on year-round time and isn't affected. Don't change settings for locations there.
Time zones on existing locations and schedule plans can't be edited. You create new ones with the new time zone and move your clocks, employees, and schedules to them.
Make the change when no employees are on the clock, such as at the end of the day or before the first shift. Changing a location mid-shift can record punches in two different time zones.
Step 1: Update the default time zone
Go to Global Settings → General Settings → Time & Language.
Select Edit.
In Default time zone, select the new time zone for your province.
Select Save.

Step 2: Create a location with the new time zone
Go to Global Settings → Platform Settings → Group Values → Locations.
Select the actions button at the bottom of the Location list, then select Add.
In Name, enter a name your team will recognize, such as British Columbia.
In Time Zone, select the new time zone.
Select Save.
Repeat for each location that needs the new time zone.

Step 3: Move your time clocks and kiosks
Time clocks
Go to Time and Attendance → Time Clocks.
Select a time clock and edit it.
Change its location to the new location, then save. The clock picks up the new time zone automatically.
Repeat for each time clock at that site.
Kiosks
Go to Time and Attendance → Kiosks.
Select the kiosk.
Select the actions button, then select Edit.
Under Locations, change Location to the new location.
Select Save.

Step 4: Move your employees
Go to Employees → Employee list.
Select the actions button, then select Bulk Edit.
Under Select employees, select the employees who work at the location.
Under Select fields, search for and select Locations.
Select Continue.

In Effective Date, enter the date the change should start, such as the following day.
In Location, select the new location.
Select Save.

Step 5: Recreate your schedules
Skip this step if you don't use Scheduling. A schedule plan's time zone can't be changed after it's created, so you create a new plan and rebuild its contents.
Go to Global Settings → Scheduling → Schedule Plans.
Select the actions button, then select Add.
Enter a Name and the Effective start date.
In Time zone, select the new time zone.
Select the Schedule Criteria and complete Workflows, Scope, and Advanced Settings to match your current plan.
Select Save.

Go to Scheduling and open the new plan.
Recreate your shift patterns, weekly patterns, and shift templates on the Shift Patterns, Weekly Patterns, and Shift Templates tabs.
Recreate any upcoming shifts in the new plan.

Step 6: Update rules, exports, and reports
These can be edited in place. Check each one that uses a specific time zone.
Rules: If a rule specifies a time zone, edit it and select the new time zone.
Scheduled exports: Go to Global Settings → Data Import & Export → Scheduled Exports, edit each export, and update its time zone or location.
Scheduled reports: Edit each scheduled report and update its time zone.
Verify your time-zone settings
After completing the updates, confirm that:
Your locations use the correct Canadian time zones.
Your time clocks and kiosks display the correct local time.
Employee punches and timesheets reflect the correct times.
Scheduled shifts display at the expected local times.
Scheduled reports and exports use the correct time zone.
If any times remain incorrect, contact WorkEasy Support for assistance.
Employees who work overnight
If employees are on the clock when you make the change, choose a cutoff time. Ask them not to clock in or not to clock out across it, then add those punches manually after the change.
Integrations and payroll
Payroll systems and other integrations may keep their own time zone settings. WorkEasy doesn't update these, so check them with your provider.
Result
New punches, schedules, notifications, and exports for the location use the new time zone, and your time clocks and kiosks show the correct local time.
