Overview

Kiosk settings control how employees authenticate, how punches are validated, and how job costing defaults apply on each kiosk. These settings enforce security rules, prevent duplicate punches, and control job assignment behavior.

Before configuring kiosk settings, ensure the following:

  • The kiosk is created.

  • The kiosk is activated on a tablet.

  • Report Hours and Kiosk Permissions are configured.

Navigate to Kiosk Settings

  1. Log in to WorkEasy Software.

  2. Navigate to Global Settings > Devices > Kiosk Settings.

  3. Select Kiosk.

Employee verification methods

Use the Employee verification dropdown to define how employees authenticate on the kiosk. These options determine how employees identify themselves on the kiosk.

Available options:

  • Employee ID / PIN

  • Employee ID

  • PIN

For high-volume kiosk environments, select the Show employee list checkbox to enable the kiosk to display an employee list before PIN entry.

Validation

Punch validation controls how quickly an employee can punch again after a successful action.

Consecutive Punch Window (sec)

  • Blocks punches within the defined time window.

  • Prevents accidental duplicate punches caused by rapid taps or retries.

Example: Entering a value of 5 blocks additional punches for 5 seconds after a successful punch.

Job Costing defaults

If job costing is enabled, a default job (project) can be assigned to a kiosk.

Default job behavior:

  • Automatically assigns the selected job when an employee punches.

  • Applies only to kiosks where the rule is assigned.

  • Does not prevent employees from changing jobs if transfers are allowed.

Example configurations:

  • Breakroom kiosk → Default job: General labor

  • Sales counter kiosk → Default job: Sales floor

  • Warehouse kiosk → Default job: Receiving dock

For more details, go to Set Up a Project in Job Costing.

Assign a kiosk to a tablet

  1. Under Device, click the field under Assign to. Select the kiosk ID to be assigned.

  2. A new Device panel appears. Select the kiosk ID to be assigned.

  3. Click OK.

  4. Review all the settings and click Save.

The updated settings apply immediately to the assigned kiosks.

Best practice guidance

  • Use Employee ID + PIN for stronger authentication.

  • Set a consecutive punch window of at least 5 seconds.

  • Assign default jobs for kiosks in specialized work areas.

  • Use kiosk-level rules only when device-specific behavior is required.
