Before assigning jobs, projects, tasks, or clients in Job Costing, complete the initial Job Costing setup. This defines how your organization structures Job Costing in WorkEasy Software. The selected structure determines which options appear under the Job Costing menu.
What is a Job?
A Job is a unit of work that employees can be assigned to when scheduling shifts, clocking time, or tracking labor costs. Depending on the organization, a Job may represent:
A project
A work order
A task
A department
A location assignment
Go to Global Settings > Job Costing > Initial Setup.
Select one of the available Job Costing structures.

Important: The Job Costing structure selected during setup determines which options appear under the Job Costing menu.
Select the structure you want to use and click Next.

Customize the structure names, if needed.
Rename Job to – Defines the singular Job label.
Rename Jobs to – Defines the plural Jobs label.
Click Next and OK to complete the setup.

The job structure appears under Job Costing.
To configure a job costing structure later after the initial setup
Go to Global Settings > Job Costing > Job Costing Structure.
To change an existing structure, select the structure then select the edit icon. Editing a structure archives the existing one and creates a new one since there can only be one job costing structure for a company.
To create a brand new structure, click Create Rule.

Enter a rule name in the Name field.
Select a date in the Starting on field.
Select the audience the rule applies to.
Disable Job Costing – Disables Job Costing for the selected audience.
Rename Job to – Defines the singular Job label.
Rename Jobs to – Defines the plural Jobs label.
Enable Project – Adds project-level tracking.
Enable Task – Adds task-level tracking.
Enable Client – Adds client-level tracking.
Review the structure configuration.
Click Save.

Refresh the page. The configured structure becomes available under the Job Costing menu.
To add a job:
Go to Global Settings > Job Costing > Jobs.
Click the three dots > Add.
Enter the job details.
Click Save.
To end (archive) a rule:
Go to Global Settings > Job Costing > Job Costing Structure.
Select the archive icon for the applicable rule.

Confirm the action.

The rule is archived and no longer active.
To restore a rule:
Enable Include ended rules.

Select the edit icon for the applicable rule.

Review the configuration.
Click Save.
