How to Set Up Breaks

To use Breaks on Time Clock Devices, the "Enable online features" setting must be enabled. See: Time Clock Settings Overview

  1. Click Global Settings.
  2. Click Time and Attendance to expand the options and select Breaks.
  3. Select Company, Group, or Employee.
     

    Assignment Type Definition
    Company Applies to the whole company
    Group Applies to a group of employees such as a particular location or department
    Employee Applies to one or more employees 
  4. Enter Rule Name, select the Effective Start Date, and select one of the break rules: Time of Day, Worked Hours, Floating Break, or Automatic Break.
    NOTE: If you select the Do Not Track Breaks checkbox, the Add Break Rules options disappear.
  5. Make your selections and click Save.

  6. To learn the different details within each Add Break Rule option, please refer to the table below.
Break Type Description
Time of Day

Employees are only allowed to take a break during the specified break window. For example, between 12 PM and 1 PM. Time of Day | Break Overview

Worked Hours

Employees are only allowed to take a break after working a specified number of hours. Worked Hours | Break Overview

Floating Break

Employees can take breaks for a preset number of times per shift. Floating Break | Break Overview

Automatic Break

Employee breaks are added automatically for the specified duration. Automatic Break | Break Overview
