How to Set Up Breaks
To use Breaks on Time Clock Devices, the "Enable online features" setting must be enabled. See: Time Clock Settings Overview
- Click Global Settings.
- Click Time and Attendance to expand the options and select Breaks.
- Select Company, Group, or Employee.
Assignment Type Definition Company Applies to the whole company Group Applies to a group of employees such as a particular location or department Employee Applies to one or more employees - Enter Rule Name, select the Effective Start Date, and select one of the break rules: Time of Day, Worked Hours, Floating Break, or Automatic Break.
NOTE: If you select the Do Not Track Breaks checkbox, the Add Break Rules options disappear. - Make your selections and click Save.

Break Type | Description |
Time of Day |
Employees are only allowed to take a break during the specified break window. For example, between 12 PM and 1 PM. Time of Day | Break Overview |
Worked Hours |
Employees are only allowed to take a break after working a specified number of hours. Worked Hours | Break Overview |
Floating Break |
Employees can take breaks for a preset number of times per shift. Floating Break | Break Overview |
Automatic Break |
