Employee Start and End a Break Using the Kiosk

The WorkEasy Kiosk allows employees to start and end breaks using a shared tablet. Available break actions depend on Reporting Hours, break rules, job costing, and clocking configuration.

Before you begin

  • You are currently clocked in.

  • The kiosk displays a Start Break option.

  • Break rules are configured for your role.

If the Start Break option is not available, contact your manager.

Start a break

On the kiosk action screen, select Start Break.

Other actions such as Clock Out or Transfer may also be visible depending on configuration.

Break selection behavior

After selecting Start Break, one of the following occurs based on configuration:

  • A break selection screen appears. Select a break from the list defined by your company.  

  • A break is automatically selected if only one break applies.  

  • The break is recorded automatically when no selection is required.  

No additional action is required when the break is automatically selected or recorded.

Break starts

  • The kiosk confirms the break start.

  • A break timer is displayed.

  • The End Break option appears if allowed.

While on break

  • The kiosk displays elapsed break time.

  • The End Break option may be disabled based on rules.

Minimum break duration

  • If enforced, End Break remains disabled until the minimum duration is met.

  • A countdown timer shows remaining required time.

End a break

When enabled, select End Break.

Job confirmation

If you were assigned to a job when the break started, the kiosk may prompt for job confirmation.

  • Select Continue to resume the same job.

  • Select Change to switch jobs.

Job selection

  • If job costing is enabled, job selection may be required.

  • Skip Selection is shown only when job selection is optional.

Break completion

  • The kiosk confirms the break end.

  • Break time is recorded.

  • The action screen or confirmation screen appears.

Smart Clocking behavior

  • Available actions depend on your current punch status.

  • Some actions may occur automatically.

  • Break options may vary by employee.

Common questions

Start Break is not visible

Breaks may not be configured for your role. Contact your manager.

End Break is disabled

A minimum break duration is enforced. Wait until the timer completes.

Break selection was skipped

The system automatically selected or recorded the break based on configuration.

Job confirmation appears after break

Job costing is enabled and requires confirmation of the active job.
