Use the WorkEasy mobile app to find and request available open shifts. Depending on your organization’s pickup process, you may receive the shift immediately or wait for manager approval.
Before you begin
To view and pick up an open shift:
You must have the WorkEasy mobile app installed and be signed in.
You must belong to the workforce covered by the applicable Schedule Plan.
The open shift must be published and have at least one available position.
You must meet the opening’s current requirements.
Important: Before requesting a shift, confirm that it does not conflict with another assigned shift or a personal commitment.
How you are notified
When an open shift you are eligible for is published, you receive an alert on your phone and an email. You can also find open shifts at any time in the mobile app.
Pick up an open shift from the phone alert
Tap the alert. The Open shift available screen shows the date and time, break, duration, criteria, and any notes.
Tap Pick up shift.

In the Confirmation message, tap Yes.

The app displays Application accepted.

Pick up an open shift from Actions Required
Open shift notifications also appear in Actions Required, so you can pick up a shift after you dismiss the alert.
Do one of the following:
On the Home screen, tap Actions Required.
Tap the bell icon in the upper-right corner. In Notifications, tap Actions Required.

Tap an Open shift available message. Each message shows the shift’s start and end date and time.
On the Open shift available screen, review the shift details, then tap Pick up shift.
In the Confirmation message, tap Yes.
The app displays Application accepted.
Pick up an open shift in the app
You can open the list of open shifts from the Home screen or from Schedules.
Do one of the following:
On the Home screen, tap Open Shifts. The number of open shifts available for this week appears below it.
Tap Schedules at the bottom of the screen, then tap the Open shifts tab.
Note: The count on the Home screen includes only open shifts in the current week. To find open shifts in later weeks, open the month calendar on the Open shifts tab, or check Actions Required.
Review the open shifts for the week. Days with open shifts are marked with a dot, and the shifts are listed by day with their time and criteria.

To see another week, drag down the handle (short bar below the week) to open the month calendar. Use the arrows next to the month to move between months, then select a date.

Tap an open shift to review its date and time, break, duration, criteria, and notes.
Tap Pick up shift.
In the Confirmation message, tap Yes.
The app displays Application accepted.
After the shift is assigned
When the shift is assigned to you, you receive a New shift assigned alert on your phone with the shift’s start and end date and time, and a confirmation email.

If the shift requires approval
The result of a request depends on the pickup workflow configured by your organization. If the shift requires manager approval, your manager reviews the request before the shift is assigned. A request waiting for approval does not mean the shift has been assigned. To check pending requests, tap My Requests on the Home screen.
If you cannot see an open shift
An open shift may not appear if:
The manager saved the opening but did not publish it.
Another employee filled the last available position.
You are not included in the applicable Schedule Plan.
Your current group assignments do not match the opening’s Schedule Criteria.
The opening is restricted to specific employees.
A scheduling or compliance requirement prevents the opening from appearing.
On the Open shifts tab, check the week the shift falls in. If the opening still does not appear, contact your manager.
If you cannot pick up an open shift
You may be unable to complete the request if:
The last available position was filled after you opened the shift.
The shift overlaps one of your assigned shifts.
You already submitted an application.
Your employee or scheduling information changed.
You no longer meet an applicable requirement.
Review the message displayed by WorkEasy. Contact your manager if you need help with a specific opening.
