Configure face liveness settings

Prev Next

Administrators configuring biometric validation on time clocks can select and apply a liveness check to reduce spoofing on face recognition.

Navigation

  1. Go to Global Settings > Devices, select Time Clock Settings.

  2. Open the target rule at the desired scope: Company, Group, or Time Clock.

  3. Expand Face recognition.

  4. Select the liveness option.

  5. Review the matching scores.

  6. Click Save. The rule applies to the selected scope.

Set face liveness

Use Face liveness detection to require a simple user action that verifies a real person is present at the device.

  • None: no liveness check. Fastest experience; lowest spoof resistance.

  • Smile: user must smile to pass liveness. Balanced security and speed.

  • Blink: user must blink to pass liveness. Similar protection to Smile; choose based on environment and user feedback.

Recommendations

  • Start with Smile in typical office or indoor lighting.

  • Use Blink where smiles are culturally inconsistent or masks may be worn.

  • Use None only for low-risk devices or during pilot testing.

  • Pair liveness with appropriate Face matching score and Iris matching score thresholds for your risk profile. The score levels are:

    • Very high

    • High

    • Medium

    • Low

    • Very low

Troubleshooting

  • If users time out at the device, lower the matching score slightly or switch between Smile and Blink.

  • Ensure the device has adequate, even lighting and the camera is unobstructed.

  • If liveness is not required for a location, set to None to speed up clock-ins.
