Add Shift Templates

Shift templates are ready-made shifts you can drag and drop into the calendar. They provide a fast way to add shifts while using the Scheduler or Shift Planner. Access them from the Shift Templates option in the left navigation or from the add‑shift flow in Scheduler or Shift Planner.

Create shift templates

  1. In the left navigation, click Scheduling > Plan. For this example, use Locations Plan.

  2. Select the Shift Templates tab.

  3. Click the ellipsis > Add.

  4. Enter the required details. For field definitions, see the settings table as follows.

Setting

Description

Name

Display name for the template stored in the Shift Templates tab.

Color

Color used to represent the shift on the Scheduler.

Start time

Shift start date and time.

End time

Shift end date and time.

Criteria

Determined by the Schedule criteria assigned to the related Schedule plan such as Location or Department.

Job selector

Selects a job to assign to the shift. Requires Enable job selection in the related Schedule plan.    

Est. break (min.)

Estimated break duration in minutes.          

  • Used for Planned Hours Totals accuracy in the Scheduler.

  • Does not automatically deduct break time from worked hours on timecards.

Is critical

Marks a shift as critical for classification and workflow decisions.
