How Managers Can Override Punches
A manager may need to override employee punch restrictions when an employee arrives earlier or later than their scheduled shift due to business needs or prior approval. These overrides ensure accurate time tracking while maintaining flexibility for unforeseen circumstances, helping to keep operations smooth without penalizing necessary schedule adjustments. Our system allows managers to override employee punch restrictions when necessary. This guide will walk you through the process of enabling punch override permissions in the system.
Web App Instructions
- Navigate to Global Settings > Time Tracking > Punch Restriction.
- Choose whether to allow manager punch override at the Company, Group, or Employee level.
- Enter the Rule Name.
- In the Restrict Based On Schedules section, select the applicable checkboxes and adjust how early and/or how late employees can clock in and/or clock out.
- Select the checkbox Allow manager punch override.
- Click Save.
Clocking Instructions
In this video, you will see the process when an employee is unable to clock in due to a restriction on the system. The steps are as follows:
- The employee attempts to clock in, but the touch screen displays "Manager Punch Override."
- A manager then steps in and taps "Manager Punch Override" and gets verified in the system.
- The system prompts a confirmation message:
βAre you sure you want to allow employee J. Doe to punch?β - The manager selects "Yes, Proceed."
- The employee is now able to tap "Clock In."
- The screen then displays "Punch Successful."
- A confirmation sound says "Verified, thank you."
This process ensures that a manager authorizes the clock-in when necessary. Watch the video for a step-by-step demonstration.
