The Assignment Scope Hierarchy

When creating or editing a rule, it is important to understand the Assignment Scope Hierarchy

Employee may also be referred to as "Time Clock" or "Kiosk" in other parts of the software

More than simply assigning a rule to the entire company, a group of employees, or particular individuals, the assignments have different priorities. These priorities may prevent necessary changes from being made in the future.

Employee

If a rule is assigned to an Employee, only an Employee rule can override it.

  • To apply a new Company or Group rule, the Employee rule must be archived

Group

If a rule is assigned to a Group, only a Group or Employee rule can override it.

  • To apply a new Company rule, the Group rule must be archived

Company

If a rule is assigned to the Company, a Company, Group, or Employee rule can override it.

  • By default you can set a company rule that applies to all employees, and the rule set can be fine tuned down the hierarchy
