Breaks Overview
Overview of the available Break types
To use Breaks on Time Clock Devices, the "Enable online features" setting must be enabled. See: Time Clock Settings Overview
1. Click to open the Global Settings
2. Click Time and Attendance to expand the options and select Breaks
3. Select an Assignment Scope. To learn more, see The Assignment Scope Hierarchy
- Company – Applies to the whole company
- Group – Applies to a group of employees such as a particular location or department
- Employee – Select one or more employees for individual application
4. Select a Break Type (Click on an article to learn more)
Break Type | Description |
Time of Day |
Employees will only be allowed to take a break during the specified break window. For example, between 12 PM and 1 PM. |
Worked Hours |
Employees will only be allowed to take the break after working a specified number of hours. |
Floating Break |
Employees can take breaks for a preset duration a preset number of times per shift. |
Automatic Break |
Employee breaks will be added automatically for the specified duration. |
Additional information:
- Deduct Time Taken: Will show the amount of time the break was taken regardless if they took the full break duration. Example: If the break duration is 1 hour and the employee clocks back in after 30 minutes of break, then the reported break will be of 30 minutes.
- Auto-Complete: Will fill the remainder of break duration if employee clocks in before break ends. Example: If the break duration is 1 hour and the employee clocks back in after 30 minutes of break, the reported break will still show as 1 hour.
